Ministry Teams

 

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:10

 

At Valencia Presbyterian we are blessed to have so many members participate in various ministry teams.  Listed below are our ministry teams, their responsibilities and meeting times.  Click here to download a hard copy of our Ministry Team Brochure.

 

Worship Team

Responsible for: All aspects of the Sunday worship services and for special services throughout the year.

Meeting Time: TBD

 

Discipleship Team

Responsible for:  Christian education opportunities for children and adults within our congregation and the community, such as:  Sunday School, Kid's R.O.C.K., G.R.O.W, Vacation Bible School, Mom's Morning Out, and Parents Night Out.

Meeting Time:  2nd Monday of each month; 6:30 - 7:30 pm, in the Lounge

 

Mission-Outreach-Fellowship Team

Responsible for: International and Local Mission Support, Food Bank, Medical Lending Closet, Easter Egg Hunt, Applefest, Christmas Community Dinner, and Lunch with the Bunch.

Meeting Time:  2nd Tuesday of the month; 6:00 - 7:00 pm, in the Lounge

 

Youth and Family Team

Responsible for:  4:12 Youth Group activities, including the 30-hour Famine and Pittsburgh Project.  They also coordinate family activities such as outings to Pirate baseball games, Christian rock concerts, bowling, etc.

Meeting Time: varies based upon scheduled activities.

 

Administrative Team

Responsible for:  The administrative concerns of the church, including:  short-range and long-range planning; financial concerns; and personnel matters.

Meeting Time:  2nd Tuesday of the month; 7:30 - 8:30 pm, in the Lounge

 

Property/Grounds Team

Responsible for:  The upkeep of the church building and grounds, including the manse.  This includes building upgrades, repairs, negotiating contracting bids, general landscaping and maintenance, etc.

Meeting Time:  2nd Tuesday of the month; 7:30 - 8:30 pm, in the Lounge (with Administrative Team)

 

Nominating Team

Responsible for:  Filling the slate of Elders, Deacons, and the Nominating team each November.  Currently, the Nominating team is also assistiing the ministry teams to help find new teammates.  This team requires a 1-year commitment and Active membership in the church.  Positions are nominated and voted on by the congregation.

Meeting Time:  No regular meeting time due to nature of the job.


Board of Session**

Responsible for:  All aspects of the governing of the church; oversees the other ministry teams and spiritual leadership in the church.

Meeting Time:  3rd Tuesday of the month; 7:00 - 8:30 pm, in the Lounge


Board of Deacons**

Responsible for:  Reaching out and providing support to the elderly, homebound, college students, military personnel in the way of meals, transportation, or visitation.  They also oversee the church nursery and library.

Meeting Time: 2nd Tuesday of the month; 7:00 - 8:00 pm, in the Lounge


**The Boards require a 3-year commitment and Active membership in the church.  Positions are nominated and voted on by the congregation.  Meetings are open to the general congregation.
